Is a trapped nerve causing you pain?

Did you know pain from trapped nerves can be caused by muscle tension and soft tissue inflammation?

If you’ve not had any particular injury but you’re feeling a nerve type pain eg burning sensation, tingling, throbbing, numbness or shooting pain… and it’s not going away and you’re fed up with it…..the good news is you probably can be helped by soft tissue release.

Nerves can become impinged in your shoulder resulting in tingling, throbbing and weakness in the arm.

Nerves can become impinged (trapped) anywhere in your body. Common ones are your sciatic nerve which you may feel from your back to your foot and trapped nerves around your shoulder sending pain through your arm and wrist.

When muscle tension changes it can affect other surrounding tissue and bones. This can result in the nerves being pressed and pinched.

How do you reduce muscle tension?

Soft tissue therapy which includes but is not limited to massage, can release the tension in the surrounding muscles and tissue allowing the nerve to transmit freely.

I integrate remedial massage techniques with EMMETT technique when treating clients with soft tissue issues including nerve pain.

Don’t want to rely on medication?

Last week my neighbour mentioned the medication she’d been prescribed for the pain she feels in her leg at night was really disrupting her life as they made her very drowsy. She described her symptoms which sounded very much like a trapped nerve in side of her hip so I invited her to let me treat her.

I asked her to demonstrate the positions that created the pain in her thigh and then I did a few Emmett releases on her right hip and thigh and voila, she was now able to lie in the positions which previously caused pain.

Two days on and her leg feels good and no sign of pain.

What could be or could have contributed to the issue?

Whilst I treated her, I also noticed her right ankle wasn’t aligned or moving well and she mentioned that it often swells. It’s possible the poor moving ankle contributed to the nerve impingement in her hip. I mobilised her ankle, so it was moving freely again.

When I treat clients, my goal is to help you reduce immediate pain but also try to establish potential causes that could be avoided.

Do you need help with your pain?

If you think you have a pinched nerve and you’d like help freeing it or if you have an unknown pain in your arm or leg and the doctor has only given you medicine for it, but you’d rather be off the pills, the book your complimentary exploratory call now.
